Surge the Tenrec Vs. Fink (Sonic the Hedgehog Vs. OK K.O.: Let's Be Heroes) Blog

I prefer a real villain to a false hero.”

-Michael Santiago Render, AKA Killer Mike.

Surge the Tenrec, The Mean Green Replacement to Sonic the Hedgehog.

Fink, Professor Venomous’ #1 Henchrat.

Crafted by a suave and scheming scientist in order to serve his plans, these two were designed to misbehave, torment and destroy. They thrive off crushing those dumb heroes under their boot, and laughing while doing so. One finding purpose and meaning in her servitude to this doctor, the other finding loss and emptiness.
In this blog, we’ll be putting these wild green terrors against each other.

Before We Start

Canon material will be used for both. Surge will mainly be drawing from the ongoing IDW Sonic run and it’s appropriate off shoots, the current issue is #74 as of writing this. Surge will get any and all scaling to previous canon Sonic titles and closely tied media, as well as Sonic Dash. For Fink, OK K.O.: Let’s Be Heroes will be the primary focus for her, with additional feats from the many games and shorts. As for OK K.O.s many crossovers such as Crossover Nexus and Let’s Meet Sonic, these will be addressed later.

Lastly, massive shout out to all calcs used here. As well as all the generous folks who helped me with this blog including Adamprimus, Mr. Bobert, Gator Loki and Tyler

Background

Surge the Tenrec

Practically nothing is known about who Surge’s past, we don’t even know what her name was originally, but we can assume she was a regular young Tenrec mobian living an average life before being kidnapped and experimented on by Doctor Starline alongside her sidekick, Kitsunami the Fennec. Not only cybernetically enhanced, given great power and electrical abilities, but at the cost of being brainwashed and wiped of who she originally was.

Starline created Surge as he found himself in need of a replacement for Sonic after destroying him and breaking the “cycle” of Sonic and Eggman's battles. Surge has been programmed to be brash, punkish, destructive and cocky, likely a reflection of how Starline views Sonic. Surge was run through the same tests over, and over, and over again as training. Surge and Kit found themselves fed up with the situation, and repeatedly realized they had no clue WHY they felt how they felt, in which Starline simply wiped their memories again. Surge and Kit managed to get the upper hand on Starline and then planned to stick by his side until the right chance to backstab him.

After a miscalculation on his part, Starline found himself 6 feet under. Surge and Kit were open to do whatever they pleased until they realized they had no food and ran into Clutch the Possum, who hired them to help with his evil plan to merge and destroy the Restorations effort to recover society from Eggman’s attacks. Surge is currently participating in a fundraising event for the restoration, in which she and Kit are fan favorites for fending off the mischievous Phantom Rider.

Fink

While Fink apparently does have a backstory, it’s top secret. What we can infer is that she was once a normal rat girl, likely homeless and alone until she was picked up and given a home by her boss and adoptive father, Professor Venomous. Being the bio engineer he is, Venomous experimented on Fink and enhanced her to the green power-house she is now. Ever since then she’s followed along with Venomous, following his every command and living under his roof. Being his right hand and personal minion for when he doesn’t want to get his hands dirty. Fink lives in Venomous’ laboratory, she has a particular affinity for videos game, particularly the one with the lasers and the jumping guy, she also canonically teabags in game.

Later on, Venomous’ company had a merger with Boxmore, after Boxman accidentally blew up Venomous’ entire house. Fink was forced to get along with her new co-workers and step siblings, Darrell, Shannon, Raymond, Jethro, and Ernesto. While she initially didn’t get along with them whatsoever, they seem to have come to an understanding thanks to their mutual love of villainy and fighting pesky heroes. Fink also attended Lakewood Public School alongside K.O. and Dendy later on in her life.

We get a peak into Fink’s adult life in the time skip in the OK K.O.: Let’s Be Heroes finale, Fink takes her love of videos game and becomes a professional competitive gamer, a very successful one at that with tons of fans and tons of money.

Intelligence and Experience

Surge

Surge is more clever than her brash demeanor would have you think. She’s highly competent in most situations thanks to having over six hundred test runs. She’s also confirmed to have a near identical fighting style to Sonic. Unlike Sonic, Surge is not afraid to play dirty in a fight, a tactic she’s utilized commonly is psyching out her opponent, either by feigning defeat or pretending to be interested in something else. Like when she pretended to be significantly harmed to trick Starline into reaching out his arm, or pretending to try and attack Eggman to get Metal Sonic to attack in a straight forward and predictable manner. Unironically uses the word “scrub.”

Fink

Fink wouldn’t be in her position if she wasn’t competent. She’s likely spent her entire life training and protecting Professor Venomous from any heroes who challenge him. She sees all the Boxmore bots as incompetent morons, some of which are smart enough to build computers out of scrap metal. Fink has also fought on par with K.O. who has trained his entire life with his mommy Carol, who has twelve black belts. Fink uses a technique known as shit talking her opponent into submission, she made K.O. too flustered and confused to properly fight her by calling him a mama’s boy. Unironically uses the word “scrub.”

Skills and Abilities

Surge

Cybernetically Enhanced Physiology

Surge was experimented on and genetically enhanced by Dr. Starline, being designed to be superior to Sonic the Hedgehog. Surge is all around superhuman physically and stronger than most individuals in the Sonic world.

Tenrec Physiology

Surge, surprisingly, is a tenrec. An obscure small nocturnal mammal originating from Southern Madagascar with many similarities to hedgehogs, such as their spiny quills and defense mechanism of curling into a ball to ward off predators. Tenrecs also have a keen sense of hearing and smell, helpful for tracking down their diet of insects, insect larvae, small vertebrates and bird eggs; they can also live off fruit if they so feel like it… this isn’t really useful or relevant at all, but it’s cool, right?

Spindash

Similar to her blue opponent, Surge can curl into a ball and rev up before shooting off at superspeed.

Homing Attack

Surge can utilize Sonic’s famous homing attack technique in which she curls into a ball mid air and charges at her opponent, usually dealing massive damage.

Other Stolen Moves and Techniques

As Surge was genetically built off Sonic, she of course has all his basic moves.
-Dash Boost: Where one charges forward with an aura of protective energy.

-Spin Attack: Sonic’s classic “bounce on the enemies head” attack.

Tornado Attack

Surge has a tendency to attack as a whirlwind.

Energy Absorption

Surge was modified with the ability to absorb and harness energy in mind, she can absorb all sorts of energy, be it electrical or magic based. Doing such provides her with a boost of power and speed, as well as restoring her stamina.

Electricity Production

As you’d expect from someone of her namesake, Surge moves so fast her body produces electricity, though she can’t control it like Blaze with flame. She usually uses it to enhance her strength but can blast out bolts of electricity if she so feels like.

Power Surge

A forward lunging attack that drains foes energy.

Volt Bolt

A speed boosting technique that allows Surge to fly forward at super speed.

Regeneration

Surge was modified to heal much faster than a normal individual, simple.

Fink

Glorb User Physiology

In OK K.O. it's explained that glorbs are the source of all the cast's cartoony antics and abilities, created by the President of the Universe to make life as groovy and fun as possible. They provide life and power to everyone we see in the series, as well as providing natural abilities to everyone in the series such as cartoon shenanigans like being able to stretch and squash to their desire, limited transformation and even regeneration from all types of harm. (See Regeneration section.)

Rat Physiology

As a dirty stinking RAT, Fink has all the abilities that come with such. Fink should have keen climbing and swimming as well as a keen sense of smell and hearing. This apparently also gives her the ability to finagle her way up and down toilet piping, even though K.O., Darrell, Shannon AND Enid believes this is a myth. Fink also has a slender tail, perfect for sneak attacking mama’s boys.

Turbo Fink

When Fink utilizes one or many glorbs, she enters her turbo Fink form for a short period of time. In this form she gains a power and speed boost, as well as a number of extra powers.

Energy Manipulation

Fink has shown the ability to project and fire purple power much like other heroes and villains. Fighters in the OK K.O. universe commonly harnesses energy throughout their bodies to increase their strength and speed for battles, similar to Ki from Dragon Ball several times to be able to steal energy blasts and use them for herself.

Flight

When imbued by turbo energy Fink can fly and levitate to her will, which she commonly uses to chase and terrorize those no good heroes.

Regeneration

Regeneration is to OK K.O. characters what breathing is to us. There is zero reason Finks regeneration should be less potent than others than others such as Radicles, who survived being blown just to a skeleton and blowing away as dust and Mr. Gar who regenerated from ash.

Recorder Skills

Practices and can play the recorder for whatever reason.

Arsenal

Surge

The Dynamo Cage

A suit which allows Surge to absorb the hyper-go-on energy of Wisps by force and wield them for herself, channeling them throughout her whole body and focusing the abilities to her arms and hands. For some reason commonly mistaken as an odd hat.

Wisps

Surge for a time had stolen the wisps from Whisper the Wolf and utilized them for herself. She can channel their power throughout the Dynamo Cage to increase her strength and speed, or utilize their unique abilities, she can also use multiple at once. The Wisps we see her use are

Blue: Surge can use the cube wisp to create solid cube constructs, either as a form of attack or even a shield.

Orange: Surge can fire orange rocket projectiles or use this to increase her own power and speed.

Cyan: Surge can fire lightspeed laser beams from her eyes or hands.

Pink: Surge can create buzz saw blades on her hands, throw out buzz saw blades as projectiles or shoot them out in all directions.

Green: Allows Surge to float and hover.

Extreme Gear

Surge rides an unnamed Extreme Gear, this specific piece being a bike style gear. Bike style Extreme Gear are more powerful than the common board type but have a harder time turning and maneuvering, although they’re less fuel-efficient. They’re also designed to slam through obstacles without slowing down, perfect for a brash and unstoppable fighter like Surge. Helps that Surge isn’t shy about using the bike to ram into her opponents such as when she ran down the Phantom Rider, AKA Sonic.

Sonic Dash Items

Surge makes her very first video game appearance as a playable character in Sonic Dash, Sonic Dash+, Sonic Prime Dash, and Sonic Forces: Speed Battle. She should have access to items available in said games.

Magnet: A magnet power up which attracts nearby items.

Random Ring Bonus: A power up which boosts Surges ring count.

Shield: A barrier of energy which defends Surge from one instance of damage.

2x Multiplier: A power up which boosts Surge’s score, wow!!!

In Sonic Forces: Speed Battle, Surge for some unknown reason has a set of viking armor including a spiked helmet, berserker axes, and a round shield.

Fink

Turbo Collar

A collar made by Professor Venomous that allows her to absorb glorbs and achieve her turbo form, which grants her a significant power boost for a time as well as several new powers. Fink also has extras in case hers ever breaks.

Glorbs

Fink carries a few glorbs on herself at a time in case she needs emergency turbo energy.

Glorb Backpack

With a bit more preparation, Fink has a backpack which quickly infuses the Glorb power into herself and easily stores several glorbs.

Bio-Mech Armor

A super powered outfit that grants Fink flight with rocket boots as well as forearm mounted laser blasters.

The Rat Trike

A super-powered tricycle made by Boxman specifically for Fink, it’s powerful enough to crush cars and cause tremors across the Plaza. Boxman is a master at vehicle mechanics due to him “taking himself go-kart racing for each and everyone of his birthdays.”

Lord of the Loot Lunchbox

A lunchbox themed around the Lord of the Loot movie series, which Fink is oddly defensive over the quality of. Instead of keeping food in it, she keeps her best weapons and tools of villainy.

Blaster

Simple little laser blast for all laser blasting needs.

The Big Goofy Fist

An item which Fink seems to carry on her which shoots a BIG OL’ boxing glove, whoopie.

Bomb Firing Gloves

Gloves that, get this, fire bombs at Finks will, seemingly from nowhere with no limit of how many she can fire. They can explode on impact or be timed for dramatic effect.

Other Presents

Fink is showered in gifts and weapons from her boss and step-boss, while we don’t see her use most of these we can see she gets many blasters, axes, bombs, spiked bats, maces and swords.

Child Safety Leash

what

Cone

For when she got worms, DISGUSTING.

Weaknesses

Surge

Surge on the inside is an utterly broken person. Alone and without a purpose in the world, she’s a cog with no machine. While supercharged with energy her brain is similarly sped up, causing her to hallucinate visions of Dr. Starline. Surge also is generally brash and has a short temper, which can and has led to her falling into obvious traps.

Fink

While Fink is impressive, there's a good reason she hasn’t destroyed the plaza or destroyed the world yet. She is generally brash and has a short temper, which can and has led to her falling for obvious traps… hm. Fink also has limited time in her turbo form; without enough glorbs, she’ll turn back into her normal state.

Scaling

Surge

Sonic the Hedgehog

To the shock of everyone, Surge, an individual genetically modified to face Sonic the Hedgehog, can keep up with Sonic the Hedgehog. While she’s certainly not on his level when he’s at his best, Surge fought on par with him for a solid period of time.

-In his fight with Metal Sonic knocked down an enormous stalactite. (313.4 Kilotons of TNT)

-Destroyed the chains holding down Little Planet. (3.2 Teratons of TNT)

-Has time and time again defeated the Death Egg Robot, as well as surviving the Death Eggs destruction, the Death Egg is stated to be a planet destroying battleship. (59.51 Zettatons of TNT, possibly 162.77 Yottatons of TNT)

-Takes on machines and individuals powered by a single Chaos Emerald, which are powerful enough to shift massive chunks of the Earth back into place. (81 Yottatons of TNT)

-Defeated Emerl while he was powered by the Final Egg Blaster, a machine that is capable of destroying numerous stars in a single shot. (5.7 ExaFOE)

-Casually runs at mach one.

-Fast enough to outrun a black hole.

-Can run at lightspeed.

-Has dodged lasers many, many times.

Sonic's Friends

Sonic’s buddy ol’ pals. Namely we have Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Cream, Rouge and many many others but generally most folks in Sonic’s world are weaker than Sonic himself. Surge being as strong as she is should be comparable to all of them.

-Amy split a large rock with one strike of her hammer.

-Amy shook off a train exploding in her face.

-Blaze vaporized a bunch of badniks. (15.54 Tons of TNT)

Eggman and the Eggman Empire

Surge has held Eggman at her mercy not once, but twice. She’s even scrapped with Metal Sonic himself, who is essentially Eggman’s favorite child and proclaimed greatest creation. Surge was also designed to defeat the doctor so Starline could take his place, or rule alongside the doctor.

-Sliced a building in half with the Egg Shogun Z.

-Metal Sonic had the power to ram clear through an Eggman warship.

-Can conjure storms with certain machinery.

-Eggman survived the Death Egg II exploding. (197.8 Teratons of TNT)

-Perfect Chaos had enough power to flood Station Square and likely the entire planet.

-The Master Core produced a black hole so powerful that both Tails and Eggman believed it would destroy the planet. (6.5 FOE)

-Erazor Djinn destroyed 100 of the 1001 Arabian Nights. (2.92 KiloFOE, possibly Universal, see before the verdict)

Gordon Freeman

One Free Man of Half-Life, HL1 Gordon has been pitted against none other than SA1 Sonic the Hedgehog himself!

-Uhhh
-Sonic got stomped by Gordon so he don’t scale so Surge downscales (oh nah)

Fink

Bodega Employees

The goody two shoes heroes across the street, Fink tussles with these three for a living. She’s fought on par with K.O. in their fight with Shadowy Figure and has obviously taken punishment from all of them at once.

-They all took the blast of a plutonium trophy of Mr. Gar. (12 Megatons of TNT)

-All survived the destruction of the entire Earth in the theme song. (208.1 Ronnatons of TNT)

-Rad dapped up a dude so hard, it cracked Planet X. (3.52 Teratons of TNT)

-K.O. slide kicked around the whole planet in 7 seconds. (0.019c)

-K.O. blasted a pow fist to the moon which created a massive dust cloud. (119 Zettatons of TNT)

-K.O. and Enid both were unharmed by falling into a black hole. (0.252 FOE)

-In unseen adventures during the finale, saved the entire multiverse, the fourth dimension and all of space and time from destruction. (Universal+)

Boxmore Bots

Fink’s step-siblings, she especially has shown to be a physical rival to Darrell with their constant feuds and scuffles. Through Darrell, Fink should obviously be on the same level as Shannon, Raymond, Ernesto, Jethro and Mikayla.

-Several Darrell units came together and launched Boxman to the sun in 9 seconds. (56c)

-Boxman flew back from the sun in about 2 seconds. (251c)

-Jethro has a setting which lets him move at the speed of light.

-Mega Jethro backed into the Boxmore factory, triggering a massive explosion, destroying the whole place. (249 Kilotons of TNT)

-Shannon could evade electrical blasts from Dynamite Watkins.

-Lord Boxman can survive the destruction of the entire Boxmore factory, which in one episode filled the entire atmosphere with smog and melted the polar ice caps in seconds. (968 Zettatons of TNT)

-Alternate universe Boxman seemingly made the sun into a robot.

-Alongside Dendy, all the robots + Boxman got punched by T.K.O. so hard it split the sun in half. (160.22 FOE, see before the verdict)

Other Heroes

The world of OK K.O. is an insanely odd world with dozens upon dozens of unique heroes. Thanks to Finks scraps with the bodega employees and the robots, she should by extension scale to the rest of the heroes of the world.

-Carol is strong enough to lift her entire Fitness Dojo.
-Mr. Gar has a bowling high score of 301. (Badass)

-Dendy was unharmed by a car crash which totally destroyed the bodega.

-Dendy recreated the opening herself. (208.1 Ronnatons of TNT)

-Rippy Roo’s pouch is described as “four dimensional.” (Universal+, see before the verdict)

Cosma

The Planet Destroying head of the villain world, one of Venomous’ closest business partners and one of the most powerful known villains in the OK K.O. world. Cosma carries a role similar to Galactus or Unicron, finding pleasure in devouring planets by the dozens for satisfaction. K.O. and Enid took hits from her and were strong enough to harm her.

-Scoffs at Billiam Milliam’s missiles which are capable of obliterating an island. (1.5 Gigatons of TNT)

-She then displays her power by blowing up the moon. (29.63 Exatons of TNT and 2.7c)

-In the finale, she ate the whole moon. (29.63 Exatons of TNT)

-Grows large enough to eat entire planets. (91.6 Yottatons of TNT)

-Spit this same planet out at high speeds. (12550 c)

-Implied to be able to destroy the sun. (136 Quettatons of TNT)

Crossover Nexus (Optional)

In the ambitious crossover episode Crossover Nexus, K.O. meets and teams up with Garnet from Steven Universe, Ben Tennyson from Ben 10, and Raven from Teen Titans Go. Together they all face off with the villainous Strike, who had stolen and absorbed the powers of nearly every hero across Cartoon Network. It doesn’t help that Ghoul School from the Scooby Doo world casually exists in OK K.O. with Enid even attending for a time and hanging out with the spooky residents. This would give K.O. and by extension, Fink, the leeway to scale to WAY too many feats for us to list here, but we’ll put down the big ones.

-Scooby Doo alongside Shaggy and Maddie Ziegler performed the Zobrinsky Triangle and destroyed the giant glass dome around the universe. This is especially blatant as a crossover as K.O. and friends have met the Ghoul School gang who directly reference Scooby and Shaggy. (22.164 Quintillion Times Universal)

-Gumball Watterson stole money from his past self. (Immeasurable)

-Mandy when under the influence of Grim’s scythe grew to the point of being infinite. (Universal+)

-Finn the Human created a fourth dimensional sword from a black hole, and then survived said black hole's destruction. (Universal+)

-Finn and friends could keep up with people who could destroy Dead Worlds, which are infinite in size. (Universal+)

-The Clock Titans inside Prismo’s domain create time and space by sending time waves throughout the multiverse with their clashes. (Multiversal+)

-Michigan J. Frog, who was able to shatter the Warner Bros. Shield, which contains the energy that created every Warner Bros. property, including the entirety of DC cosmology. The Titans alongside a few others were capable of restoring this power themselves. (Outerversal+)

Before the Verdict…

Shadow’s Shatter verse feat?

Bit of an obscure feat since a lot of people didn’t bother watching Sonic Prime, but it comes from Shadow being able to react to and activate Chaos Control before being affected by the blast which warped the normal Sonic universe into the Shatter verse. This is impressive as the blast took about 2 seconds to fully take effect, and Shadow does this in base who Sonic is repeatedly capable of keeping up with, and Surge can keep up with him.

Universal/4D Base Sonic?

Over the long history of the Sonic franchise, they’ve had a few arguments for being universal or 4D in base. The two most noteworthy being Erazor Djinn destroying 100 of the 1001 Arabian Nights and Infinite creating Null Space, an infinite separate plane of existence. Sonic defeats both of these two in his base and Surge later keeps up with him, so what gives? Well, when you look at these feats with a bit more scrutiny, you’ll see they don’t exactly hold up. First up is Erazor Djinns feat, the main problem here is the lack of solid info on the size of the Arabian Nights aside from off hand statements. We know there are 1001 nights in the Arabian Nights, and over 200 stories in total, all together being considered one universe, so while this seems impressive it’s likely that Erazor Djinn only destroyed a small portion of the Arabian Nights, the number above for 2.92 KiloFOE is assuming they’re as big as solar systems. As for Infinite, Sonic only kept up with him with help from the Avatar, while this seems like not such a big deal. The power of “heart, soul, and the bonds of friendship” has been shown to be a very real thing in the Sonic universe, even giving Sonic an amp on the level of the Chaos Emeralds, as shown when this same essence restored the power of the drained Sol Emeralds. The idea of friendship giving a massive power boost is surprisingly consistent in the Sonic universe, especially in games like Team Sonic Racing and Sonic Heroes. It also doesn’t help that Sonic time and time again has had to go super to deal with other universal threats such as Solaris, the Time Eater, the Egg Wizard, the Titans and the Phantom Ruby, funnily enough.

Can we scale people to the sun's destruction?

One of the most infamous feats in the whole series. While most people take one look and say nobody scales outside of amped T.K.O., if you check the scene it really should be fine to scale normal people to the 160 FOE output of this attack. Not only do Dendy and the robots endure the punch which flings them this hard in the first place, but if you look closely they keep going after making impact with the sun. It is implied that they died from this attack, but it seems they died from the lack of oxygen rather than the blow itself. So while it may seem odd, this feat should be fine, and is backed up by the other FOE level feats showcased above.

The Alternate Universe Warlock creates a universe

A feat which people seem to question for odd reasons. The Alternate Universe Warlock blatantly states he’ll create an alternate universe in which the bodega employees and the Boxmore bots swap positions, pretty clear. You could try to nitpick this feat by saying he did this through some kind of hax, but there is absolutely nothing implying this and would be complete headcanon. Scaling the crew to this is simple as well as the alternate universe versions of the bodega employees and robots are shown threatening the Warlock to the point he has to flee the dimension to avoid harm. There’s absolutely nothing implying the alternate versions of our main characters are vastly stronger given everything else about them is exactly the same. This scaling is solid.

But only the President of the Universe is universal!

Some would write off the AU Warlocks feat by saying in the OK K.O. finale, it’s made clear that only the President of the Universe has the power to restore K.O.s planet with his wish granting powers. It’s also implied that T.K.O. and Shadowy Figure would’ve used this wish to destroy the universe. This is likely not due to a lack of power, but a lack of reality warping, which is an exceedingly rare ability in the OK K.O. universe. In fact, when the Alternate Universe Warlock states he’s going to create an alternate universe, Enid comments that such magic was made illegal a good while ago. So the power of this wish shouldn’t really equate to AP and shouldn’t contradict the previous scaling.

Rippy Roo’s shenanigans

Rippy Roo was a new recruit of P.O.I.N.T alongside Carol and Gar, while she appears non-threatening and cute, she could very well have the most powerful scaling in the series. Her main ability is her magical front pouch which she can store and pull seemingly endless items from, usually not the item she actually intends. What matters for this blog is the size of this pouch. We directly see it has a sky full of dozens upon dozens of stars in the episode “Whatever Happened to… Rippy Roo?”, we also see it has an entire galaxy inside in “Glory Days”, most impressively of all is her pouch being directly called “four dimensional” by the creator of OK K.O. Ian Jones Quartey. While other showings of this kind would be chalked up to Rippy Roo’s pouch simply being a portal to this odd dimension, as far as I’m aware Rippy’s pouch has not once been referred to as a separate plane of existence or dimension, always just being referred to as “inside Rippy’s pouch.” The entrance has also absolutely never been called a portal of any sorts, just the entrance and exit. Rippy’s profession as a quantum physicist after she leaves P.O.I.N.T would also funnily imply that her pouch isn’t just a doorway, but some unique infinity zone held entirely inside herself. If you buy this scaling, alongside the fourth dimension scene in the finale would buff the entire verse to 4D levels of power.

OK K.O.: Let’s Crossover!

OK K.O.: Let’s Be Heroes has had many many crossovers such as Captain Planet and RPG World. Most important for this blog being Crossover Nexus and… Sonic the Hedgehog? While K.O. and friends would scale given the events of the episode, OK K.O.: Let’s Meet Sonic was excluded for the purposes of this blog given that would mean Surge and Fink just scale to each other. Or worse, Fink would scale to Sonic scaling but Surge wouldn’t scale to OK K.O. scaling since while the crossover is very clearly canon for OK K.O., there is little to nothing insinuating it’s canon for Sonic, except for a character very closely resembling Crinkly Wrinkly appearing in Sonic IDW issue #48. Crossover Nexus on the other hand, is blatantly canon for OK K.O., K.O. still has Garnet’s Pow Card in later episodes, he meets her again in the finale along with Strike making a reappearance, even in the original 22-minute pitch they make a joke about it being entirely canon. Whether you want to use it is really a matter of opinion, but using it would single handedly buff OK K.O. by insane magnitudes, making K.O and by extension Fink, multi+ at worst to very possibly outerversal scaling.

Verdicts

Koolguy

Hey gang it’s droolguy, and in the past few months I’ve been really really into both OK K.O. and Sonic comics. I watched a bit of OK K.O. when it first came out, only a few months ago did I decide to watch the whole thing with my good pals Bob and TQ (see Bobito below) and even have another watch party with my friends on another server. I’ve also been a Sonic fan since I was a wee little baby but only recently did I catch up on the IDW comics, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Surge and Fink are two of my favorites from both (my favorites being Dr. Starline and Rad in case you’re wondering) and so in a night of insane productivity I wrote up the skeleton of this very blog. As for who I think wins, my vote is going to Fink for this.

As for why, I’m not gonna beat around the bush, Fink mainly wins through massively taking the AP and durability with universal scaling, this pretty easily puts her magnitudes above Surge, and one good hit will end this fight. Honestly, I’m not sure why nobody has used universal OK K.O. before me, mainly talking about the Alternate Universe Warlock who is just blatantly universal. You can argue base Sonic characters like Surge to be universal as discussed earlier, but even if you grant Surge this power, you can get Fink to 4D with similar leniency, making it moot. Surge isn’t without her advantage, she solidly takes speed by a decent gap, however this isn’t really helpful, she can’t hurt Fink at all and a hit in run playstyle is out of character for Surge anyways. Even if Surge manages to chip away at Fink some

how, Fink’s regeneration would simply fix any and all damage.

Tertiary factors aren’t really worth discussing here, neither are known for their intelligence, they’re about equally skilled and experienced, unless you scale Fink’s skill to Carol, who has twelve black belts. While you could try and argue Surge could absorb Fink’s turbo energy and gain equal AP, not only would this be a big assumption, but this power boost wouldn’t last, and Fink could just regenerate from any real damage Surge does in this time.

Overall, while Surge is tough, I’m gonna have to give it to Fink.

Anyhow, as we can all tell, given the stats it’s clear that Sonic’s green evil trashy doppelganger originating from American sonic comics is gonna decimate Venomous’ adopted daughter.
However, Scourge the Hedgehog is not here and is not Fink’s opponent. Speaking of which, Surge definitely is faster than rat girl genius over here, speed for both is like 733.2 Quadrillion c vs 286 Billion c, that makes Surge a little over 2.5 million times faster. So why doesn’t Surge just blitz and get it done with already? Well for two main reasons, 1) Notice how the before the verdicts (see before the verdicts ya bum) had a section on why uni base cast wasn’t considered for Sonic and another section on why the main OK KO cast should scale to a blatantly uni character? Yeah strength is the first big factor here, at best Surge could scale to Emerl and his nice crisp 5.7 ExaFOE worth of power (Multi Solar System) which already would put Surge at being 30 OCTILLION times weaker than Fink, so Fink would be way stronger than Surge would be faster. This is also ignoring all the other higher stats from crossovers or whatever the heck you want to do with Rippy Roo and the finale which would make stat gap more wide than numbers could convey. Even if you want to ignore what was said in before the verdicts (read that section ya fucking bum) about Lets Meet Sonic scaling than either Fink would still be more powerful or stats would be equal which still wouldn’t matter because 2) Fink basically could come back from any damage Surge could attempt to do via regeneration, Surge has no counter to this in any form, Surge’s own regeneration is noticeably much much lesser than Fink’s, so basically Surge’s only option to not die would to somehow run away from Fink forever which not only is something I doubt Surge would do but also probably wouldn’t count as a victory in most circumstances, also probably impossible as oppose to Fink landing a singular hit.

Thanks to my pally Kool for letting me write a prediction on which of these lovely green rodents with the mouth of sailors could win in a fight. Hope you stay tuned to read past blogs and look forward to future blogs by Kool, on that note read his and other people who actually worked on the blog’s predictions too, I can en-surge you they also got this match fink-gured out too.

Hur dur i’ madam fink wins

Gator Loki

“I am… Gator.”

Hey guys, it’s uhh Gator Loki and I am on this blog I think, I don’t know. Yeah. Anyways uhh, this is a really cool matchup I think cuz Surge is cool and uhh, OK KO is also cool I think. In terms of stats, it’s surprisingly close. As stated in the Before The Verdict section, Uni Surge isn’t real while Uni Fink is. Surge is obviously faster due to being a Sonic character (also actual feats but whatevs) however she generally won’t be able to do much to Fink, especially if we include the multiversal and outversal feats. Surge does have more abilities but aside from Energy Absorption, none of them are particularly gamebreaking, especially with Fink’s far superior regen. Fink’s arsenal is also far more versatile than Surge’s, with superior mobility and AOE with the Jet Boots and Bombs. In conclusion, Surge’s speed wouldn’t matter in the long-term as Fink’s far superior strength and durability as well as regeneration made killing her almost impossible for the Tenrec, and with her superior arsenal that made it easier to chase down Surge, it all adds up for a victory for Gordon Fucking Freeman! What did you expect, a Fink victory? Get real.

Tyler

Not much else to really say on the Verdict. Everyone else explains it pretty well.

Fink is taking pretty much any stat besides speed. Which becomes a null point when Surge has no ways to actually damage or even get past Finks regen. I could bring up their abilities and such but tbh it doesn't really help Surge beat the stomped allegations.

So yeah, sorry Surge bros. We are taking the L on this one.

Surge

“Sucks to be them, ‘cuz I aim to misbehave.”

Advantages:

Much faster.

  • Likely comparable in skill and experience.

  • Wisps helps compete with the variety of Fink’s weapons.

  • Extreme Gear is a more consistent and versatile form of flight.

  • More techniques and skills.

  • Could likely absorb and utilize Fink’s energy attacks…

Disadvantages:

  • ... If she didn’t get one shot before she got the chance.

  • Infinitely weaker with Uni+ or Crossover Scaling.

  • Still magnitudes weaker with universal OK K.O. scaling.

  • Finks regeneration would recover her from what limited damage Surge inflicts.

  • Less intelligent.

Fink

“I'm gonna go show that baby that things aren't all sunshine and cupcakes!”

Advantages:

  • Massive power advantage.

  • Even if you don’t wanna use those, she would still be far more powerful with universal scaling.

  • Regeneration would keep Fink in the fight, even if Surge was equal in power.

  • Similarly skilled, more skilled if you scale her to Carol.

  • Likely more intelligent.

  • Larger arsenal.

Disadvantages:

  • Slower.

  • Lesser stamina and limited glorbs.

  • Could likely have her turbo energy drained by Surge.

Limited time limit for Turbo Fink.

And that should be a wrap, despite Surge’s insane speed, power and skill, Fink takes the win thanks to her massive AP advantage, regeneration keeping her in the fight no matter what and her sheer, unfiltered, unbelievable stubbornness.

Team Fink: (Koolguy, Mr. Bob, Adam Primus, Cadendamonkey, Tyler)
